The most recent Habitat for Humanity house in Wetaskiwin is “ALL PINK”, the I-joists, trusses and lumber are all coated by Pinkwood Ltd. supplied through the Wetaskiwin Co-op. Pinkwood donated a portion of their coating on this Habitat for Humanity house in Wetaskiwin. Lana Guenther of Pinkwood states “It feels great to work for a company that is socialably responsible. Not only are we donating a portion of our proceeds to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, we are helping where we can to build safer, healthier homes.”
Pinkwood Ltd's PinkJoists and PKLumber are factory coated with a unique coating that contains a water repellent, fire retardant, anti-mold agents and anti-fungal agents.
Rachel Reddicon-Brown moved to Wetaskiwin from Vancouver to be closer to her mother and hasn’t looked back since. Her and her four children were chosen to be a Habitat family. Rachel loves living in Wetaskiwin, “It’s been a great move for us coming to Wetaskiwin. My kids are excelling in a small town environment and now we have this great opportunity with Habitat for Humanity. The living conditions where we are now aren’t good partly because of the mold problems and it is hard on us because of our allergies. It is reassuring to know that our floors, walls and trusses in our new home will be protected from mold thanks to Pinkwood and Habitat for Humanity.”
